Safari for Windows : Browser for Mac and … Windows
Apple just announced Safari for Windows, a free beta. Jobs showed some benchmarks of Safari rendering HTML and running JavaScript twice as fast as IE, and faster than Firefox. It renders in Windows the same as on a Mac, this’ll make it easier for web developers to test how a site looks in Safari without buying one.
As Apple claims, “The fastest web browser on any platform, Safari loads pages up to 2 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2.”
The things I noted “cool” were the soft fonts just like in a mac. Indeed, they were really soft, the web page looks more like viewing an image. And a bit better speed. I did have a small problem though, while posting a long entry on one my blog, it just posted just 1 paragraph. I had to use Firefox to post it. :/
Forum junkies got a new topic to start - “Which is better ? Firefox, IE7, Opera or Safari ?? ”
So, Will you switch?

I’m on Mac and I don’t even use Safari since I’m also having posting/blogging problems with it

I love safari on the Mac. It starts up so quickly and it has this “consolidate windows” (now “merge windows”?) feature which I really like.
But as for the windows version, its a bit unstable and crashes now and then. Safari is definitely better than IE and Opera…but firefox…that’s a tough one to beat, especially on windows.

No Sreejith, its not that the prices have come down. I managed to catch hold of the Apple Main Reseller for Tamil Nadu and get the reseller price. Of course, I can’t buy it from them because I am not of their partners as a business. But hey, I know what any reseller/partner is going to get their laptop for and from whom, and what time frame. I finally found a reseller who was desperate enough for business that he agreed to take 500 rupees as his handling/transaction charge/profit whatever he wants to call it.
Otherwise, the prices are 1 lakh 8000 bucks and nothing less.
Play the business game, you can never go unrewarded for doing your homework.
