I generally don’t use profanities on my blog, it being read by my family n all. But sometimes to describe something of this sort, you don’t have a choice.
Its not a new problem, its been there for years now, but I wonder for how long i can take the IE6 s**t. The funny thing is, I was listening to a podcast about it the day before yesterday and a day after that I spend almost a day fixing 3 IE errors in a new design.
(To all those who are lucky enough to not know IE6 problems) Internet Explorer 6 messes up many things on a web design, especially the designs based on newer web standards and we designers have to spend hours trying to make it look better on the IE6.
So, lets ditch IE and design only for the browsers which respect the standards! I wish I could say that. The thing is, in most cases when I’m designing, I’m doing it for a client and I cannot ask him to join me in getting rid of IE6. Frankly, even if I did, he wouldn’t care and would probably hire someone else for the job, as about 30-60% users use IE6.
I might have overlooked it if it was few minutes job, but it isn’t so. In many of the projects 40-50% time of the project goes in fixing IE i.e I’m literally earning half the money I’m supposed to earn designing websites and all that because some geniuses created it and monopolized the market. But I don’t think even Microsoft can do anything about it now, there are people who still use Windows 2000 (and IE7 is not supported on it), as per the podcast, I agreed. But I doubted if anyone who surfs internet and lives in the new age uses it. My doubts were cleared when I talked to my friend earlier today. Would you believe she runs a blog ?
I’ve been thinking over this and I haven’t been able to figure out when this would end.
Amen.
being on a windows 2000 doesnt matter for me cos, i never ever use IE on it. Always firefox.

And yeah, you guessed it right, I have not even tried IE7!!!
And do you know what, I think there maybe people who even uses Windows 98!!! leave alone win 2000.
But then, there have been long talks that Windows XP is almost same as Windows 2000 with SP2 or SP4 or whatever. So I think it doesnt matter, because people have grown faster and have started using other browsers, be it in any system…
@Arch , in other words your lazy to upgrade ?
^^ exactly….
