Atlast ! I Bought vBulletin

At last !!, after so many days of laziness, I bought vBulletin for IWD which was offline from over a month now. Right now I have one of my friend, Surya ready for it but I’m looking for few more people to help me develop it.
It is a webmaster / developer forum mainly targeted on Indian audience, though webmaster’s and developer’s worldwide are welcome.By the next Google Pagerank update, Im expecting a PR 4 atleast, lol. I hope I’ll make it big :) . If anyone is interested he/she can contact me, provided that they are available and can dedicate few hours a week.
Well thats the later part, Right now Im worried about the installtion . It’ll be done by Monday I think. Any suggestions/Comments are welcome om themes, installations … anything.

  6. What was your reason to go with vB(I know its the best out there, so don’t tell me that) when there are some pretty cool free alternatives like PunBB?

vB is pretty easy to install, it won’t take more than 30 minutes if you have a decent internet connection. Also you’ll find the help file from vB pretty useful in managing your vB install and I can say as per what I’ve heard from others, that their forums(on their website) are pretty cool & helpful. :)

  7. Well I went for cb cause mine is a webmaster forum and almost 90% of the people I asked refered me to vb, even I do think so. I mean it would be 1 in 100 chance for me to join a nonVB/custom forums that is for webmasters.
It might sound funny but vb falls under the profesional category i mean, webmaster have it this way , “He cant afford a VB or IPB !!” .I’m not saying it’s like that for everyone but yes most of the webmasters prefer VB, atleast the ones with the knowledge of forum, CMS etc.

  9. I can’t imagine anyone saying that anything besides vB is not professional. That would mean only one thing IMHO, that the person saying that doesn’t know the meaning of professional. And I wouldn’t bother with IPB, its crap!!

And who gave you the idea that webmasters who know about forums & CMS etc go with vB? Those words are not from a dictionary of nuclear physics!! Any webmaster nowadays who doesn’t know about them is not a webmaster!!

I don’t say that you made a wrong choice in getting vB(because you didn’t) but you have some misconceptions about why one should go with vB. :)

Btw, you can download the vB Help file in CHM format from http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/. Its about 3MB but well worth the download!! :)
